New Team Captain Matthew T.C (also called Mr. FTC) has a new group getting it all done! Off from the finish line with a bang! Those Cybirds were in the shop non-stop, tweaking, testing, CAD'ing like crazy, and trying ideas.
Two qualifiers: 2nd place, 3rd place and made it to Regional Champs! Some misfortune and misalignments sent the Cybirds packing. But, the sizzle of energy persisted ever since, prepping for next season. Beware, the Cybirds are coming in HOT!
Meet: Q-bert / Nutty
So, we got the challenge revealed first week of Sept. Nutty was actually lifting its own weight, elevating 12-15" up by Oct. 14th! Full charging team with an eye on saving funds this year and totally finding every reusable part possible and 3D printing the rest with our team's CAD master! If it weren't for a couple of new batteries and some channel, cost would've been under $200!!

Mitchell's back as Team Captain for the 2nd year, and geesh his crew of student members seem to really like that fact. The team spirit of this group is amazing this season. The Cybirds charge full steam ahead and have a super competitive bot, despite some last minute troubles. The Cybirds are the garage mechanic crew that always comes thru in the end! And, wow, team sizes were huge this season!

This dream machine took a lot of work. It was a masterpiece of engineering, and did well at competitions. It did have some major issues and had to be totally revamped, one tiny piece at a time. But, we had so much fun doing it and ended up performing better than anticipated. So, we are happy Cybirds!

This year's Cybirds are being led by longtime member and major building talent Mitchell. He runs a fun team consisting of many veteran members and only a few new to FTC Robotics.
Mentors include two alumni members and a few more adults who are huge fans of the FIRST program.

We have a long tradition of naming our machines each season, and give the Team Captains the final decision on all submissions. The Thang is this year's special project. It was made with much love, much delay on parts, missing screws, some missing members (once in a while), and much FUN! We believe in the possibilities of The Thang!

What a FUN Season That Was.
Right off the bat in Washington D.C., we did great, moving quickly thru the rounds.
Team Captain Robert was only with FTC for two years. He's a quick learner because the Cybirds thrived again and made a fantastic robot that did great at competition. The second qualifier had a small mechanical issue with very unfortunate timing between quick rounds. But, it's the Rolls Royce of Robots and still ready to dazzle!
Meet our latest robot
This sleek machine was created by the close-knit Cybirds team. Everyone had a role to play. The custom-designed bumpers around the wheels were 3-D printed and much admired by other teams at every event. The grabber was fully capable and the whole robot was VERY fast!
The LCD lights underneath the machine change color and are quite stunning to watch in action.
Who are the Cybirds 2021/2022
The Cybirds are the first FTC team around here. They win awards and make robots that screech and constantly awe other competitors. Rivals often marvel over at least one unique idea every year when the Cybirds come around! Team Captain, and long-time member, Josh made sure to run a tight ship and get the job done - earlier than expected, to leave plenty of time for drive training, point-scoring practice, and troubleshooting. Great leadership. Great team!
Meet Janksaw
Wow! Look at that robot. It can do so many things, more things than any other robot. It even makes cappuccinos? Not really, but it does A LOT of cool things on the field. And it DID have the coolest 3D printed numbers too.
This machine made it through an interesting season, coming back into the school from the Covid year. A good mix of members took us through Regional Championships in Hampton, VA. We networked a lot, made a lot of great connections, and hope to be back every year!
